Grutchin

In the New Jedi Order novel series, the Grutchins are creatures bio-engineered by the Yuuzhan Vong as weapons. Used in space battles, these life-sized insects were released onto enemy ships, and eat through the hull, then continue on to kill the crew. After a battle, the Yuuzhan Vong had to destroy those left over, as the critters would continue to attack anything on sight.
